Saturday morning we checked out of our hotel and drove down the coast to a town called Florence and went on a giant Dune Buggy ride. Florence was so pretty we decided next time we need to spend some more time there.

After the dune buggy ride we let the kids play on the bumper boats.

Afterwards we drove to Eugene and had a late lunch at my cousin Kim's house. It was fun visiting with her and catching up. That pretty much summed up our trip to the coast. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed our trip.

Beach

After we ate we drove back to the beach across from our Hotel. There were a ton of people there and they had a bunch of cool kites. This beach was perfect. There was a river across the road and a small stream had cut through out to the ocean. The river water was warmer than the ocean water. It was also shallow and perfect for all the kids to play in.

Whale Watching and Yaquina Head Lighthouse

We scheduld ourselves for a whale watching boat ride friday morning. They take you out on the ocean and spot whales. The kids were excited to get on a boat.

It was so fun waiting for the whales to pop up. I would get so excited and start yelling and finally Statton had to tell me to chill out. lol.
Everyone enjoying the boat ride. Our whale watching tour was only 30 minutes and I was concerned it wasn't going to be long enough. About 20 minutes in Statton's head was drooping against the rail and Blair was also starting to feel "sea sick."
I had my camera out and ready to go so I could capture Blair puking over the side of the boat but he held it together.

I enjoyed the whale watching boat ride but I was even starting to feel a little queasy and ready to be done. We got all the way back to land and had just gotten back in the car when Blair stepped out and threw up behind the car. I couldn't help but laugh about the whole thing. The plan was to go get something to eat afterwards but everyone was feeling a little sick. Obviously. We decided to just take a drive down the coast and let everybody's stomachs calm down. While driving Statton rolled down his window and began to puke out the window. I immediately pulled over to make sure he was ok and Blair got out and poured his water bottle on the side of the car to wash off the puke. Afterwards one of the girls asked me. "Mom how come you laughed when dad puked but seemed concerned when Statton puked." How do you explain to your 8 year old the difference between husband and child.
Well we ended up at the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. I took the older 3 kids while Dad and Delanie slept in the car. We walked down to see the Lighthouse and the house that the Lighthouse Keeper's family lived in. At the Visitor's Center we were able to learn more about the Lighthouse Keepers duties and also the families. It was very interesting to learn the strict rules that they had to follow.

Down below the Lighthouse they had these tide pools. You could walk around and pet the urchins and other little sea creatures that make a home in those little pools.

After the Lighthouse we headed back to the car and Dad and Delanie were finally awake and feeling better. We went and found a place to eat.
