Hawaii 2013...Plane ride and Dole Pineapple Plantation

Hawaii here we come! May 8, early that morning. we were on our way to Hawaii. It was the kids first plane rides that they might actually remember. (They had each flown on a plane when they were all babies) Since my sister Sarah had moved out to Hawaii with here family my parents have been taking one family a year out for a visit. Well this was our year and unfortunately Blair was unable to go because he had just started with his new company and was unable to take any leave for 6 months. We had this planned for quite awhile so we decided to go ahead and just go without him. My parents received a ticket voucher for him so the plan is for just him and I to take a trip later this fall. Still we were a little sad that Dad wasn't going to be able to join us. Madison was also going to be turning 3 on this trip so on the plane I gave her one of her birthday gifts early. It was a Dora the Explorer e-book for her leappad. It was meant to keep her occupied during the flight.

All the kids did great on the flights over. We took a plane from Boise to Portland and then from Portland to Hawaii. The kids all ended up falling asleep the last few hours of the flight and woke up about 30 minutes from landing. Cassidy was the only one who struggled with the landings. She had a hard time with her ears popping so she was crying on the landings. We gave her gum but it only helped a little. I think part of the problem was that she didn't understand why her ears were popping so much and so I think it was part hurting ears and just not knowing what was going on. She did much better on the return flights.
Well once we landed and got our rental van we headed over to Sarah's house. After visiting for a little bit and freshening up we decided to hit the Dole Pineapple Plantation and have a late lunch. So here we are riding the Pineapple Express.

Cassidy enjoying wearing shorts and flip flops...Finally! It was still snowing once a week and raining off and on when we left and Cassidy was dying having to wear pants and shoes still. I had been promising her that she could wear shorts all she wanted in Hawaii. Then of course she complained it was too hot. haha...go figure.

Madison and Cassidy crawled up on this rock and wanted their pictures taken. Cassidy is such a poser!

 Enjoying our dole whips.

Grandpa and Kailyn enjoying theirs. She is a total Grandpa's girl. She would hardly leave his side the whole trip.
Cute little Abrie enjoying her pineapple.

 Feeding the fish!
Grandpa was buying and handing out fish food for all the kids to feed the fish in the pond.

End of day 1 in Hawaii was a blast! We're excited for the next 9 days!
